Frequently Asked Questions

Hi, I am Judie Kuper, the business manager for Smith Chiropractic and Sports Medicine in Breese, Illinois. My job entails duties that pertain to running the business aspect of Dr. Smith's practice. In particular, I make sure all accounts payable and receivable are handled daily. Also, I make sure all of your insurance information is included in our office computer system and at the end of each week, I prepare the packet of information that goes to our billing agency.

We began using Cornerstone Medical Management of Edwardsville, IL, last year and it has been a wonderful service for us. Long gone are the days where we sat on the phone waiting for insurance representatives to get on the line. Now, we can focus on patient care and with a few documents and strokes on our keyboard, all your financial and insurance information is handled by a very competent group. They know the coding requirements and get your claim processed light years ahead of where we used to be. Here are some common questions patients have for me. Thought I might share them with you:

1. What can I expect on my first visit?

The doctor will perform a consultation and a thorough examination. X-rays will be taken if necessary. Upon arriving at a diagnosis, the doctor will tell you if you can be helped; if not, he will refer you to the appropriate physician.

2. How much will it cost?

Costs vary and generally depend on the number of treatments required to effectively treat your condition.

3. Does my insurance cover this?

Our office will be happy to verify your coverage and help you fill out forms. Most insurance plans have a deductible and co-payment for which the patient is responsible. This depends on your policy.

4. How do I resolve an insurance question or dispute?

Cornerstone Medical Management is our insurance pro. Think of them as a large insurance office right here in our office. You can call them directly at 618.307.3600 for specific details about insurance billing issues. Ask for Valerie or Terri, they are glad to help you.
